David Sharples

Practice Management Consultant

In his 11 years with the Law Society of England & Wales, David pioneered and developed new skills areas for solicitors.
This included training, marketing, media relations, and practice management.
He was at the forefront of the promotion of the Lexcel Quality Standard as a management tool.

Later he worked as a senior manager in private practice for two years.

In 2001 he was accredited by the Law Society as a Lexcel Consultant..
Since then he has been advising law firms in the UK and Australia on practice management issues.

Background and other experience:

Director of Operations

with a group of legal practices with 14 offices in Manchester,
He established a new head office for the group, installing and overseeing the central management,
accounting, staffing and quality control systems.

In June 2001 the Group was awarded the British quality standard “Investors in People”
awarded for excellence in management and employee development.

Regional Secretary

with the Law Society of England & Wales.

He established the Law Society's first Regional Office setting a template which was then repeated in six other regions and in Brussels.
He dealt with internal & external communications, and handled relationships with the media and political structures at both regional and national level.
He developed and promoted practice management and professional training systems,
